Ministerial records, 1740-1779.

This collection contains the ministerial records of the Baptist Church in West Springfield, Mass. The record was faithfully kept by Upham, though there is only one entry for the period 1748 to 1771 while he was in Newport, R.I. (entry of 1758). Entries include a partial list of those present at Upham's ordination, a record of baptisms, and the difficulties between the church and Joseph Ball. There are also entries recording Upham's departure from West Springfield for Newport, as well as his return and the reason for it.
